Hand Piecing & Hand Quilting Sampler Quilt, Blocks 1-6



Learn to make a quilt the way our great grandmothers made them, by hand.
The instructor will teach every step you need to know to hand piece a beautiful sampler quilt.
Learn to make a quilt the way our great grandmothers made them, by hand.  Each block is different and teaches a new technique. The quilt pictured is only an example quilt. The design of your quilt will be similar.
You will learn how to:

    -select your fabric
    -prepare your fabric for cutting
    -cut your fabric
    -hand sew your pieces together to form blocks
    -hand sew blocks to form rows
    -hand sew your rows together to form the quilt top
    -add sashing and borders
    -the basic sewing techniques used in all quilts

In addition to the fabric for your quilt there is a small Kit fee of $10.00.  The kit includes the book at $7.95 and goodies to get you started on your Hand-Piecing Journey.
All supplies are available in the store with a 10% discount.

The quilt pictured is only an example quilt. The design of your quilt will be similar.
There are 12 weekly sessions to complete the quilt (one for each block).  Each session is two hours in length. Rather than asking $300 up front.  We have broken it up into two segment with 6 sessions.  You will pay $150.00 for Blocks 1-6 and another $150.00 for Blocks 7-12. 

Any student who would like to learn how to add the batting, backing, quilting, and/or binding should talk to the instructor to set up follow-up classes.

     


Skill Level: Beginner
Skill Details: Each student must have good hand dexterity and be able to stitch well. How to read measuring tape and ruler.
Materials Included: The kit includes what you need to get started on day one. The kit is only $10.00. The New Sampler Quilt book is included in the Kit
Requirements: In addition you will need: scissors - small embroidery, fabric and ones to cut Mylar/quilting templates ruler with 1/4" markings (CGR15125) Plastic Template Ruler Pin Cushion Bees Wax Seam Ripper Pins - Magic Pins (silk or Patchwork) Needle Threader Thimble Personal Pressing Station- travel-iron and pressing mat. All of these items are available in the shop and students are provided a 10% discount when purchased for class use. Please bring a drink, bagged lunch or snack, sweater, and a face mask.

Instructor Bio: Carole has been sewing since 1983 and prefers hand over machine sewing.
